Comedy at village pub

A VILLAGE pub near Pershore has bagged the services of a great line-up of funnymen for a comedy night on Saturday.

The event at the Old Chestnut Tree in Lower Moor will feature a range of comedians who have been on the national stand-up circuit for many years.

Headlining the gig is Marcus Ryan, who hails from a small town called Wonthaggi in Victoria, Australia.

Marcus tells tales gleaned from his experiences travelling through nearly 30 countries, charming his audiences with one-liners, accents and characters, travel stories and observations.

Marcus has previously worked in breakfast radio and has also done some acting.

He has a laid-back yet confident and engaging stage presence with a sharp wit that can handle any heckler.

Supporting Marcus will be Belfast boy Ryan McDonnell, who is no stranger to laughs in his home town and is currently building up quite a reputation for himself on the UK comedy circuit.

Keeping his comedy roots very staunchly embedded in his Northern Ireland upbringing, he interjects a sharp wit and an Ulster charm in his observation of everyday life.

His act is sometimes bizarre, often dark, as he guides you on a unique journey through the world as he sees it.

Also performing is Paul Ricketts. Musician, playwright, pornographer, chimney sweep, stage hand and primary school teacher before turning to stand-up comedy on the advice of his therapist three years ago.

Compere for the night is Donald Mack. Donald is described as a unique comedian who balances his material between his ‘old skool’ roots and his ‘nu skool’ attitudes. This means that anything and anybody is up for ridicule including the ‘Mack Daddy’ himself.

The action gets under way at 9pm. Tickets are available from the Old Chestnut, which is now under new management, on 01386 860380.
