TICKETS are still up for grabs to see Harry Enfield take to the stage in a celebration of Handel’s life and music with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment at Cheltenham Town Hall next month.
A limited number of VIP tickets, including champagne reception, are still available for the event which takes place on Saturday, July 4, as part of the Cheltenham Music Festival 2009.
The period instrument-based Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and stunning soloists, including Lestyn Davies, will be performing a programme of favourite choruses, orchestral music and show-stopping arias to mark the 250th anniversary of Handel’s death.
They will be joined by comedian Harry Enfield playing the part of Handel in the telling of his life’s story from his German youth and Italian apprenticeship, to the decades of triumph in England. VIP ticket holders will enjoy a champagne, Pimms and canape reception in the Queen’s Hotel Napier Conservatory from 5.30pm, before being escorted to the best seats in the house for the performance at 7pm.
There will also be a special drinks interval reception in the Town hall drawing room.
As Handel had a close association during his life with the Foundling Hospital in London, the UK’s first hospital dedicated to children, Cheltenham Festivals has chosen to collaborate with the Cheltenham-based Wellchild charity for this event.
Wellchild helps sick children and their families throughout the UK as they deal with the consequences of serious illness and complex conditions by focusing on care, support and research.
The VIP tickets at £50, available by calling 0844 5767979.
