AN evergreen stage and film musical awaits courtesy of Pershore Operatic and Dramatic Society (PODS).

The society, including some of its youth section, will perform Half a Sixpence at Pershore's Number 8 arts centre from Monday to Saturday, June 5 to 10.

When a surprise inheritance turns young hero Kipps to a new found upper set of friends, he even forsakes his childhood sweetheart Ann – to whom he'd given a half sixpence as a token of affection.

By final curtain will the adventures, twists, and turns we follow have taught Kipps anything?

Can his head and heart be turned to life and loves so hastily spurned?

Audiences will be enthralled as a musical comedy for all the family vividly unfolds, with deft choreography adding depth and foot tapping of your own to classic tunes If The Rain's Gonna Fall, Flash Bang Wallop! and, of course, Half a Sixpence.

Performances are at 7.30pm. For tickets, call 01386 555488 or visit number8.org.
