JONAS Kaufmann stars in Andrea Chénier which will be beamed live from Royal Opera House, London to Pershore's Number 8.

Umberto Giordano’s fictionalised account of the last years of the French poet Andrea Chénier, guillotined during the Reign of Terror in 1794 is considered the greatest of Giordano’s operas.

Taking the starring role of Chénier is Jonas Kaufmann while Dutch soprano Eva-Maria Westbroek sings the role of Chénier’s beloved Maddalena including the great aria La Mamma Morta.

Serbian baritone ?eljko Lu?i? stars as the servant-turned-revolutionary Carlo Gérard.

Director David McVicar brings the thrilling historical drama back to the Royal Opera House for the first time since 1985 in a stunning new production.

The show, screened on Thursday, January 29 from 7.15pm, will be sung in Italian with English surtitles.
