Free blues event will be biggest in Britain
12:00pm Thursday 5th July 2012 in Music
THIS year’s Upton Blues Festival is set to be the best yet as it celebrates its 11th anniversary and becomes the UK’s largest free blues event.
This year there are three stages and another nine pub locations showcasing more than 90 bands between July 20 and 22.
Acts include British bands and solo artists and the pick of international musicians.
The action will switch between the main Riverside, sports field and Hobson’s acoustic stage areas with performances spanning rhythm and blues, soul, rock and roll and bluegrass.
Grahame Bunn, landlord of the King’s Head in Upton, said: “Upton Blues Festival 2012 is going to be great. The festival has all the ingredients to be the best yet and is attracting visitors from all over the world to see probably one of the finest line ups in the UK this year.”
The festival is organised by a small group of local volunteers, and has gone from strength to strength since the first event in 2001.
