Wrathchild’s return

EVESHAM’S Wrathchild are back at their best and busier than ever.

The hard rocking band, who rose to prominence in the late 80s and early 90s with their onstage antics, penned a new record deal with American-based Perris Records last year.

The four-piece – lead singer Gaz ‘Psychowrath’ Harris and founder members Marc Angel, Eddie Star and Phil ‘Wrathchild’ Vokins – have been touring since March and are showing no signs of slowing down with the second leg of their Stalkin’ The Earth tour getting under way next month.

They will also be headlining Billing Bikefest at Billing Aerodrome, near Northampton, on Saturday, July 21, then appearing at the Rhondda Hotel in Porth, Wales, on Saturday, July 28.

They are also featuring on the line-up of Rock ‘n’ Wrestle at the UKW Thunderdrome in Horbury, near Leeds, on Sunday, August 5.

Gaz said: “The album sets out exactly what this band is all about – great hooks and powerful guitars and it has a rawness that makes the record sound different from all those that are simply recorded onto computers and compressed to oblivion, which makes most other records sound the same. The songs translate great live, which is really where we come into our own.

“Everybody sings along to the new stuff as if they’ve known these songs for a long time, which is a great reaction given that, despite the luxury of having such a large back catalogue to choose from, our shows consist mostly of songs from the new album by popular demand.”

Their fourth studio album, STAKK ATTAKK TWO, was released in August and has since gone on to be voted album of the year by the readers of Grande Rock in Italy.

It is available to buy from retailers such as Amazon, HMV and Rapture Records in Evesham’s Riverside Shopping Centre.
