THE Evesham Festival of Music Brass and Woodwind Workshop takes place at Evesham Arts Centre on Saturday, July 4, from 10am to 2pm.

The workshop is designed to improve group performance and ensemble playing skills for wind players. It is open to musicians of all ages and abilities with the exception of complete beginners.

The course is being led by Nick Smith, musical director of Evesham’s Avonbank Brass band, and Derek Wells, founder and musical director of the Celebration Reed and Brass Band based in Hampton, Evesham.

“During the course participants will gain useful tips, practical experience, performance technique and assistance in the art of playing together with other musicians,” Mr Wells said. “At the end of the course there will be a 40-minute concert of the music rehearsed during the course,”

The concert starts 1.15pm. Admission is free.

The charge for the course is £5 and a place may be booked via the festival website. The deadline for applications is June 22.

Participants will need to provide their own instruments and music stands and bring along their own refreshments.
