SHAKESPEARE famously asked "if music be the food of love", and it's certainly the opportunity for wider recognition with the The Royal Shakespeare Company.

The RSC is offering musicians from the Midlands area the chance to showcase their talent in the foyer of its studio theatre, The Other Place, in Stratford-upon-Avon.

A spokesman said: "Musicians, singers and songwriters who can offer two 45 minute sets, primarily of original music, are encouraged to apply.

"Submissions are welcome from soloists and small groups, representing all genres of music, including pop, folk, acoustic, electronic and country."

Performances will take place on the first Thursday of every month in Susie’s Bar, usually starting at 8pm, with the first event taking place on Thursday April 8.

Louisa Davies from the RSC Events and Exhibition team said: “We know there are some exceptionally talented musicians, singers and songwriters in the Midlands, and we would love to give them the chance to perform at Susie’s Bar in the foyer of The Other Place, home to the RSC’s studio theatre and rehearsal rooms.

"Susie’s Bar has a very special and intimate atmosphere, where members of the public often mingle with actors and the creative teams on our shows.”

Those interested in taking part in the music nights should contact the RSC on top.music@rsc.org.uk, sending a link to three music tracks and a biography of up to 150 words.

The RSC will provide a PA and sound technician, a listing on the RSC website and other relevant publicity, and a fee.

The closing date for applications is Friday 24 February 2017.
