BRETFORTON Silver Band and the internationally renowned concert pianist. Marcel Zidani, will be raising the rafters of Pershore Abbey.

The performance will be in support of Pershore Midsummer Brass 2017.

A spokesman said: "After wowing us during Pershore Midsummer Brass festival 2016, back in July, the much-in-demand Bretforton Silver Band are returning to Pershore for An Afternoon of Music.

"The band dates back to 1895, changing to a 'silver' band in 1933. Since then they have delighted audiences locally with their high quality playing, including their own proms concerts on Bretforton Village Green, in local parks on Sunday afternoons and in local venues for fundraising concerts."

The spokesman added: "Accompanying them for the afternoon is Marcel Zidani, described by BBC Radio 3 as "a musical gem with a compositional style comparable to that of Liszt, Satie and Chopin'. "He has received glowing reviews in the international press and has performed extensively as a soloist in Europe, as well as giving concerts across the Midlands."

Chairman of the organising committee for Pershore Midsummer Brass, John West, said: "We are really looking forward to this concert, all the musicians involved are top quality local talent so a real treat for the audience, and all funds from sale of tickets will go straight into making sure Pershore Midsummer Brass continues to be a fantastic event."

The date for the diary is Saturday November 26, from 2.30pm.

Tickets are available on the door or from 'BLUE', in Broad Street, Pershore .
