MEMBERS of Bretforton Silver Band are set to celebrate their twinning and friendship with fellow musicians from Musikkapelle Lohrieth, in Bavaria.

The two bands have visited each other alternately every few years since 1981, and many long lasting friendships have been made.

A spokesman said: "Musikkapelle Lohrieth is a traditional German band from a small village just outside Bad Neustadt, the twin town of Pershore.

"They will be arriving in Bretforton on September 30 where a whole host of activities and concerts have been arranged."

John Wood, the musical director of Bretforton Silver Band, added: "It should be a great weekend and we hope that as many people will come and help support this wonderful celebration.

"The events will include an outdoor concert in Chapman Court, Pershore on Saturday October 1, from 12.30pm to 1.30pm and a massed band concert in Bretforton from 6pm, in the evening."

Other bands will be performing on the programme.

John said: "This will be a fabulous evening of music making when Bretforton Silver Band, Alcester Victoria Silver Band, Avonbank Brass Band, Arrow Valley Brass and of course our German friends join force to deliver some fantastic entertainment."

This concert will take place on October 1, starting at 6pm in a marquee on the recreation ground at Bretforton.

The event will be free, with a barbeque and refreshments available.
