AN EVESHAM audience is being promised a "sonic-slab of classic British space rock", at the Iron Road venue.

The Hawklords will be winging their way to the Iron Road on Wednesday, October 19, for an 8pm, and fans of Hawkwind should make it a diary date.

Hawklords, the band comprising former members of the seminal space rock group, Hawkwind, are about to hit the road in support of their fifth album, Fusion, to be released on October 7.

Originally formed by Robert Calvert and Dave Brock of Hawkwind, the current members of Hawklords are Harvey Bainbridge on synthesizer and vocals; Dave Pearce on drums - originally from the psych-rock band, The Bevis Frond; Jerry Richards on guitar and vocals; Ron Tree on lead vocals and oscillators, and Tom Ashurst, on bass and vocals, "a rising star from the British festival circuit and newest member of the band".

A spokesman added: "Each show features a jaw-dropping digital projected lightshow, specially created by lighting designer and tour circuit veteran, Dave 'Lighthouse' Johnson."
