A SPECIAL "Folk Treble" evening in Evesham will showcase new material from three Midlands-based performers.

Appearing will be singer-songwriter Colin Pitts, Birmingham duo Ashland and local musician Mike Weaver.

A spokesman said: "All the performers will be playing original songs from their new CDs, which are due for release this year.

"Colin Pitts' new album 'Where The River Bends' is his first for five years. He will be performing tracks from it at the concert, as well as some of his well-known earlier material. Much of Colin's writing has been inspired by the Vale of Evesham and many of his songs have become folk club standards in this region."

The spokesman added: "Ashland arrive in Evesham for the first time after winning many new fans in the West Midlands with a sound which sits in the area where folk hits the more sophisticated side of acoustic pop."

So far they have released a three track EP and are currently recording their new album which will be available later this year. The duo are Kathryn Marsh, vocals, and David Sutherland on guitar.

Mike Weaver returned to writing and performing three years ago, and the song Pembrokeshire Fair, from his new album The Others, was featured on the cover CD of this May's Acoustic Magazine.

The spokesman said: "Mike is perhaps best-known locally for co-organising 2015's Almonry Folk Weekend and helped to set up the Folk in the Foyer series at Evesham Arts Centre."

The artists are teaming up to present their work in the 17th century Oat Street Chapel, Evesham on Thursday June 9.

The concert will start at 8pm, with doors opening at 7.30pm.
