All-round shows seal a double dose of success

ADLESTROP recorded a weekend double after defe-ating Chedworth in Division One of the Cotswold League and then overcoming Longborough and Sezincote in Sunday's friendly.

Sam Keen (54) and Alan Walker (49) added 95 for the second wicket but only Matthew Barnes was able to reach double figures as the winning subsided to 163-9.

The visitors lost six wickets for just 15 runs with O'Leary claiming four in a ten-over spell.

A half-century opening stand left Chedworth poised for victory but the Adlestrop bow-lers hit back thanks to the efforts of Sam Rawlings, Dan Parker and Sam Keen as they fell 36 runs short.

The three bowlers shared the wickets and conceded fewer than three runs an over in ten-over stints on an afternoon when the hosts failed to launch the ball over the boundary once while Adlestrop managed it seven times!

Barnes top scored with 53 the next afternoon when Sam and Nick Keen were also in fine form with the bat in a total of 186-7.

Longborough's reply was a virtual one-man show as Rob Sipthorpe scored a splendid century with only one teammate managing double figures.

J J King took 5-24 to demolish the middle order and it was left to Sam Keen to seal a 26-run success when he clean bowled Sipthorpe for 113.
