Apprentice Beckie Davies
AN apprenticeship has proved a good way forward for 22-year-old Beckie Davies, who is working at Worcester conference centre Wild Wood Rooms in Wild Wood Drive.
Miss Davies, who lives in Westlands, Droitwich, is currently studying for a business administration apprenticeship NVQ level two.
She works four days a week at the conference centre and attends Worcester Group Training Association centre one day a week.
She said: “At work I provide a reception service to the people who attend the conference centre, I deal with incoming and outgoing post on a daily basis, I keep the absence and holiday database up to date and have various spreadsheets that my manager asks me to produce.
“These are just some of the jobs that I do.
“There are many more that I do on a weekly and monthly basis.
“I attend the WGTA training centre on a Thursday. During this time we have a tutor who goes through various things to help us within our workplace.
“This includes guidance on how you would go about recruiting, the laws within a business environment and how to use email systems.
“These are just some of the things that we cover in our sessions.
“We also are required to produce a portfolio in which we collect evidence from our workplace and are given guidance on this from our tutors.
“Once a month a monitoring officer comes to visit me at work and during this time we go through evidence that I have collected for my portfolio and put it in to the correct modules.
“WGTA has provided me with the opportunity to further my learning, to learn within my company and to still earn money while I am doing this.”
