A MOTHER-of-four has pounced on a gap in the market and opened a childrenswear shop in Evesham.

Jane Figgitt opened Jack & Jill Babywear & Childrenswear in Vine Court despite the doom and gloom of the recession.

The store sells clothes for both sexes aged from newborn to eight years old as well as baby gifts, towels, bibs, blankets and nursery items.

Mrs Figgitt, of Childswickham, said: “The poor mums in Evesham have not got anything anymore so I wanted to give them something to come to, not just to buy but to have a browse and have a chat.

“I want it to be a nice shopping experience. I hope they enjoy coming here.

“It’s been very encouraging. Mums really like the shop and the range I sell.”

A small part of the shop is set aside for children to play and draw. It is open from 10am to 4pm, Monday to Saturday.
