A CITY firm has been shortlisted for an award.

Worcester-based Airband Community Internet has been shortlisted in two categories of the Rural Business Awards 2018/19.

Airband has been shortlisted in the South West Best Rural Professional Services Business category and Airband’s Richard Blackburn has been shortlisted in the South West Rural Employee of the Year.

Founded in 2009 by husband and wife team Red and Miranda Peel, Airband Community Internet specialises in superfast broadband for rural areas delivered via an innovative combination of technologies. and has already gained a string of awards for growth, innovation and broadband delivery.

Airband HR director, Miranda Peel, said: "We are thrilled with the news that we have been shortlisted. I believe that the hard work of our dedicated team, our short lead times and non-invasive processes, together with our focus on customer service are the foundation for our success. Richard Blackburn joined Airband in March 2016 as acquisition co-ordinator when the company was going through a period of rapid growth."

The winners of each category will be announced at the Rural Business Awards ceremony on October 18 at Bath Racecourse.
