AN apprentice from a Worcester firm has been awarded a well-deserved accolade.

Rock Power Connections, which has its head office based at Buckholt Business Centre, is celebrating the success of its first apprentice.

Hubaib Altaf joined Rock Power Connections in May 2016 while working towards a Level 2 business administration apprenticeship, before progressing onto a higher Level 3 qualification earlier this year.

He has now been awarded the advanced apprenticeship apprentice of the year at Heart of Worcestershire College, and will receive the accolade at a ceremony being held today.

Mr Altaf said: "When I first started at Rock Power Connections, I was part of a small office team which meant there was always something on the go and a variety of tasks to work on. In the last two years I've been given every opportunity to develop my skills, support team members of all levels and work in different departments.

"The company has given me so much support and I'm very grateful for everyone who has helped me along the way.

"I'm very much looking forward to the awards ceremony and to what the future holds at Rock Power Connections."

Headquartered at the Buckholt Business Park in Worcester, Rock Power Connections specialises in new connections and upgrades to the electricity distribution network for businesses and industrial, commercial and renewable generation sites across the UK.

Founded in 2012 by Directors Reece James, Kev Sankar and Matt Crampton, the family run business has experienced exponential growth since inception and is also shortlisted for both High Growth Business of the Year and Small Business of the Year at the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce Awards.

Kev Sankar, Director of Rock Power Connections, added: "Hubaib is a hard worker and has become a true asset to the Rock team. It's been a real pleasure to watch him develop over the last two years, and we look forward to helping him continue his career path at Rock Power Connections over the coming years. This award is very well deserved, and we are all extremely proud – well done Hubaib.”
