STAFF at the Worcester branch of Specsavers have raised thousands of pounds for a children's charity, following a successful year of fundraising.

The team at the Worcester opticians in Broad Street has been supporting Acorns Children’s Hospice for the past year with a range of fundraising activities including the raffle of a giant chocolate Easter bunny.

Overall the team managed to raise £2,750 for the hospice.

Specsavers Worcester has been a supporter of Acorns since 2005 totting up more than £20,000 over the years through fundraising.

"We’re delighted to have raised so much for Acorns over the last year,’ the Worcester branch's store director Alan Richards said.

"A big thank you to everyone who has supported us with our fundraising.

"Acorns has become a key part of our community support.

"The team have always been passionate about raising funds, and volunteering time to help the charity."

Acorns Children's Hospice offers a network of care and support to life-limited and life-threatened children and their families, and has a base in Worcester.
