WORCESTER MP Robin Walker has backed Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership (WLEP), bid to become one of the 20 national career hubs.
Mr Walker a long term supporter of WLEP, backs the campaign for it to be one of the hubs, which would allow WLEP to offer additional resources and support to all of Worcestershire secondary schools including special educational needs, pupil referral unit settings and further education colleges to complete the Government’s Benchmarks developed with the Gatsby Foundation.
The bid is for two years from September 2018 to August 2020.
The WLEP’s plan is to include all of the county’s 43 schools within the bid, therefore offering added value, and a county wide hub which will offer a different dimension to the expected city and rural bids. This bid is for £60,000 towards a salary post and £40,000 towards support resources, however over the two years there will be opportunity to bid for additional funds which will only be available to the 20 careers hubs.
Mr Walker said: “Quality careers advice and work experience are really vital for young people and I am delighted that the Worcestershire LEP, which brings together so many local businesses and employers is bidding to be part of this process."
