TWO specialist lawyers from a county law firm have won Worcestershire Law Society awards.

Mfg Solicitors partner and commercial litigation specialist Sam Pedley won the prestigious solicitor of the year title - with the award coming only 10 months after the 33 year-old became one of the youngest partners in the firm’s history.

Also at the ceremony, held last month, Mr Pedley was joined on the 2018 winners list by agricultural and rural affairs specialist Tom Bell.

Mr Bell, 32, was recognised for his work with farmers, landowners and rural businesses by being handed young solicitor of the year award by the judging panel.

Maynard Burton, partner and chairman of Mfg Solicitors, said: “Both Sam and Tom have achieved so much for their clients and the firm over the past 12 months.

“Last summer Sam was appointed as a partner and has now taken on a wider leadership role alongside his outstanding work within our litigation department.

"Tom, meanwhile, continues to carve out an exceptional reputation with our clients in the farming and rural sectors. Both awards are fully deserved and they underline the effort, commitment and professionalism shown by both Sam and Tom.”

Over the past 12 months Mr Pedley, who heads up the firm’s commercial litigation and insolvency services , has also been recognised by the prestigious legal 500 and the chambers and partners guides as a rising star and a leader in his field.

Mfg Solicitors has 34 partners and employs over 160 people at offices across the region including in Worcester and Bromsgrove.

The Worcestershire Law Society was formed in 1841 to support and promote the work of the legal profession across the county.

This year the awards were held at Worcester’s historic Guildhall.
