A MALVERN-based business is continuing to grow from strength-to-strength as it is expected to send more than one billion messages to a global audience this year.

Textlocal.com, which has an office in Geraldine Road, is an multi-award winning mobile messaging platform.

With its International Technical Headquarters located in Malvern’s Science Park, Textlocal was originally founded by local resident, Alastair Shortland, in 2005, after receiving a text message from a nightclub informing him of a forthcoming event.

Believing SMS to be the most effective form of marketing - considering the then predicted growth of mobile devices - Alastair dedicated his time to learning code and web development, to set up the platform.

The service has grown to today helping more than 165,000 businesses directly engage with their target audiences.

Mr Shortland said: “Textlocal has grown significantly over the past 12 months alone, with UK staff numbers rising from 30 to 50, together with expansion overseas into India and Myanmar."
