A WORCESTERSHIRE solicitors firm enjoyed a charity bake off in aid of a fundraising appeal.

Members of staff at SME Solicitors, based in Worcester city centre, looked to cook up a storm when they held the bake off in aid of the Rory the Robot appeal on Bank Holiday Monday after Easter.

The cakes ranged from a white chocolate sponge baked by Joanne Rice to cheese biscuits baked by Jane Barker.

The winner was picked by judges Rory the Robot Appeal chairman Ian Jukes and wife Tina Jukes - a rabbit shaped cake baked by Samantha Lloyd and a cheesecake baked by William Cadbury.

Mr Jukes said: "We are delighted to have had the support of SME Solicitors for this event and to have been chosen as their charity of the year for 2017.

"This sort of fundraising is fun but still counts, and it all adds up.

"Huge thanks to everyone at SME who took the trouble to bake such delicious cakes, and to all the firm’s clients and visitors who succumbed to temptation and bought a slice.”

SME’s managing partner Yvonne Tivey added: “The oven gloves were off for this event.

"We have a number of talented bakers amongst our staff, and they took the challenge very seriously.

"We are excited to be supporting such a worthy local cause as Rory, and look forward to continuing the fundraising throughout the year culminating in our annual quiz."

The Rory the Robot appeal has to date raised £300,000, and with the installation of the machine in early summer. This is set to support the ongoing fight against prostate cancer in Worcestershire.
