WORCESTER healthcare property firm Prime is hoping for a hat-trick of awards at this year's Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) West Midlands Awards.

The firm, based in Wildwood Drive, has received three nominations for its work on the new Birmingham Dental Hospital and School of Dentistry.

Opened by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the £50m development is the first integrated dental hospital and school to be built in the UK for 40 years.

It is built on the former site of the BBC Pebble Mill studios and the new development offers cutting-edge treatment to around 1.5 million patients, while securing the future of dental training for the wider West Midlands region.

The project was developed by Prime for local LIFTCo Birmingham and Solihull LIFT, in partnership with Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, the University of Birmingham and Calthorpe Estates. Prime also worked alongside Worcester-based design firm One Creative Environments Ltd on the building design.

Ewan Forsyth, development director at Prime, said: “As the first standalone dental hospital and school to be built in the UK for 40 years, this has been a once-in-a-career project for the Prime team, and we are delighted that our work is being recognised in this way within the industry.”

The RICS Awards showcase the most inspirational regional initiatives and developments in land, property and construction, celebrating the achievements of professionals working in both the built and natural environment.

The firm will discover which awards it has won at a ceremony taking place at Edgbaston Cricket Club on May 18.
