A NEW multi-million pound elderly people's home, which will be supporting people living with dementia, is due to open this spring.

Fernhill House in Fernhill Heath near Worcester, can accommodate 36 people living with dementia and 30 frail elderly people.

The £8 million new care home is being designed to have a "different approach to life for over 65s" helping them to live an active and fulfilled life.

Various daily activities are organised including gym sessions, arts and crafts and gardening, tea dances, choir therapy, recitals by string quartets and bubbles and blinis evenings.

Residents can also enjoy treatments in the salon, as well as hobbies and trips.

Normal life will be recreated for those suffering dementia, including a pub, shop and indoor potting shed.

Fernhill House manager Peta Mandleberg said: "We aim to help our residents enjoy happy fulfilled lives – enjoying long established hobbies, discovering new ones and being part of a vibrant community.”

The marketing suite is open from 10am until 4pm daily, and can be viewed by appointment.
