THE Worcester office of regional accountants Bishop Fleming has recruited four new trainees to match growth in the local economy.

Partner in charge of Bishop Fleming in Worcester, Ian Smith, said: "With the local economy gathering pace, we have seen a rapid growth in demand for our services. While we are still actively recruiting, we also have a strong commitment to developing our own people.

"The firm continues to grow and innovate to reflect the changing market. In particular, the forthcoming digital tax revolution led us to launch our new cloud-based Accounting Solutions package, so we need the right recruits for the digital marketplace of the future."

In the past year, the firm's seven offices have increased organic turnover by nearly 14 per cent. Bishop Fleming has taken on 35 new trainees in total so far this year – a record number – and it is still recruiting. The firm has also accepted five placement students who have joined marketing, tax and audit.

The new trainees are studying a mixture of tax, accounting and payroll qualifications to be business advisers of the future. Bishop Fleming is ranked 49th in the Sunday Times Top 100 places to work. The firm has also been shortlisted in two categories for the British Accountancy Awards: mid-tier firm of the year for the second year running and top 50 audit team of the year.
