IT was little fingers raised all round when residents of Fortis Housing in Worcester were invited to a celebratory tea party organised by supermarket Asda in aid of Breast Cancer Care.

Held at Cripplegate House, more than 50 residents attended the party, which was just one of the strawberry tea events Asda’s community champion John Horsley has been organising for the community.

Mr Horsley said: "What an amazing time we’ve had raising awareness and funds for Breast Cancer Care. We had a fabulous group who enjoyed every minute, including 97-year old Nancy Evans, who did not stop laughing all day and was absolutely wonderful company. Whether it’s you and a few friends in the garden, a family tea party or even a strawberry bake sale at your work or school, this is a great excuse to get together, host a strawberry tea event and make a massive difference.”

Hannah Branch, community fundraising manager at Breast Cancer Care, added: "We’re delighted Asda colleagues and customers are supporting Breast Cancer Care and Strawberry Tea this summer. We’d love more people to gather friends and family to host their own afternoon tea. The funds raised through each and every strawberry tea enable Breast Cancer Care to continue to be there for anyone facing breast cancer, from day one.”
