THERE were flying pins all over the place, when 11 teams from businesses across Worcestershire took part in a charity skittles evening for St Richard's Hospice.

Held at The Berkeley pub, Spetchley and organised by law firm Thursfields, the event raised more than £600. The winning teams took away some specially named bottles of beer, while those who came in last took a wooden spoon with some complimentary skittles sweeties as a softener. A raffle was also held, with an array of great prizes.

Helen Hanson and Zoe Perry of Thursfields organised the event from start to finish and Mrs Hanson said: "We are thrilled to have raised more than £600 for the hospice and have had great fun achieving it. We have received lots of positive feedback about the evening and may look at starting it as an annual event… watch this space. Even a ‘flyaway skittle’ ankle injury has not put us off putting the pins up again for the second instalment next year.”

Top skittlers were the teams from Jelf Clark Roxborough Insurance Brokers and One Creative Environments Ltd, while a quartet called Mixed Up collected the booby prize
