THE "WANTED" notice had gone up for new members to join the business board of Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership.

The LEP is searching for enthusiastic and knowledgeable business representatives with a commitment to Worcestershire to add to the forum and contribute diverse business perspectives, knowledge and expertise to support flourishing enterprise.

Business Board chairman Mark Martin said: "The Business Board forms part of a two way relationship with the WLEP Board, is able to steer matters of business concern and provide its business perspective when required. The Business Board has been very successful to date and we are now seeking additional business representatives to bring wider expertise. We currently have vacancies and I would encourage business representatives from across the County to apply for this fantastic opportunity.”

The Business Board comprises 21 private sector representatives from varying business sizes and sectors as well as the main business representative organisations. It meets six times a year (or more frequently as required) to address the big issues and solutions that would stimulate business growth and create jobs in the local economy.

These are unpaid non-executive roles requiring a maximum of between one and two days a month. It is not a decision-making body but acts in an advisory capacity, informing and influencing the decisions of the WLEP Board.

The WLEP Business Board maintains a geographical and sector spread of business interests across its membership, each of whom are either key Worcestershire employers or representative of small-medium size businesses that have the ambitions to consolidate the position and influence of Worcestershire’s private sector. Business Board members serve a three year term at the end of which they may either step down or seek re-election for a maximum period of a further two years.

To apply for Business Board membership, send a current CV plus a covering letter highlighting your particular expertise and experience, together with a statement of your interests and potential contribution to diane.dwyers@wlep.co.uk by Friday, March 4.
