A HOME care company has demonstrated its ongoing commitment to the welfare of elderly residents in Worcester by embracing the new social care training standards that came into effect in April.

The Care Certificate was introduced as part of The Care Act, a new piece of legislation affecting the health and social care sector, and consists of 15 standards covering a wide range of areas.

It is designed to standardise training for social care workers across the country and is applicable to carers starting work as domiciliary carers in care homes, hospitals or other care settings.

Hannah MacKechnie, director of Radfield Home Care, said: "New carers have to meet the requirements of each standard by demonstrating their knowledge and their practical skills whilst working with clients.

"We are very pleased to see the training standards across the care sector become standardised and improved.

"Working as a carer is such an important and rewarding career and it is vital that all staff are well trained to deal with the issues that can arise."

Carer Andreea Macarie has just completed all the elements of the new Care Certificate under the guidance of Radfield Home Care's trainer Sally Gurney, and she found that it prepared her really well for her role as a carer looking after our elderly clients in their own homes.
