A WORCESTER diecasting firm has donated vital funds to a Midlands hospital charity to help it continue essential work supporting military patients and their families.

JVM Castings, which has facilities in Droitwich Road, has given £10,000 to Fisher House, run by the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity, in a sponsorship deal which has seen The Worcester Room named in its honour. Fisher House provides a "home away from home" for military patients at the QE and their families, to support them on their journey towards rehabilitation.

JVM’s new project introduction manager Will Murcott said: “We have always looked for opportunities to support the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham because they do such a fantastic job, and the work they do on the pancreatic cancer department and the children’s cancer department is so important. Many of us know someone who’s been affected by cancer and has been treated there; my uncle, Karl, who is JVM’s tooling director, was also keen to support the hospital for personal reasons, as his mum was treated there before she died. Our support for Fisher House came about as it’s something we all feel incredibly passionate about; the armed forces do such an important job for our country and it’s crucial that they and their families are supported in their rehabilitation.

“We’re also aiming to raise an additional £5,000 for Fisher House and the upkeep of The Worcester Room over the coming year; we’re currently setting up a company team to get involved in fundraising activities like wing walks, sky dives and Tough Mudder marathons."
