A WORCESTERSHIRE construction company has taken two top awards in a search to find the UK's best builders.

Spectus Construction Ltd of New Road, Pershore, won the large renovation project and commercial project in the Midlands categories at the Master Builder of the Year Awards for its work on the re-developed Malvern fire station in Malvern Link.

Andy Griffiths, managing director at Spectus, said: "We were delighted to be nominated for the awards by the Fire Service. It is with great pride that we accept such a prestigious award which is extremely important to our company. Our site manager, management team at the head office and all of our tradesmen have worked extremely hard to deliver this project. It was very much a team effort including the support from the client and their representatives. We have a dedicated team here who are all committed to achieving the highest quality and great customer service."

The Master Builder of the Year Awards, a nationwide search by the Federation of Master Builders to find the best builders in the UK, is unique. Nominations must come from a satisfied client, and builders are judged on their all-round performance: technical ability together with customer service skills, attention to detail and the end result of the project.

John Watson, FMB service director for the Midlands said: “The Master Builder of the Year Awards give clients the opportunity to celebrate a job well done and to say thank you to their builder. For the building industry it is an opportunity to celebrate all that is good about small local builders and their importance to the recovering UK economy. Time and time again we have been impressed with just how far these builders will go to ensure their client is happy. It is this dedication that we want to celebrate. Spectus Construction Ltd should feel justly proud of its achievement and we wish the company every success in the national competition.”

The national winners of the 12th Master Builder of the Year Awards will be announced by TV presenter and architecture enthusiast Charlie Luxton at a ceremony at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel in London on February 18, next year.
