ANDY Shaw has proved he's a top man when it comes to building houses.

Because the site manager of Taylor Wimpey Midlands’ Diglis Water development in Worcester, won the multi-storey category in the National House-Building Council annual Pride in the Job Quality Awards. His success was announced at the west regional ceremony held at the ICC in Birmingham and Mr Shaw now goes forward to the competition’s supreme gala final in London in January, when the national champions will be announced.

The award recognises his dedication to building high-quality homes for new homebuyers and provides purchasers with the assurance the development provides the very highest-quality homes and exceptional customer service.

Mr Shaw began his career as a joiner in 1980 before moving into management in 2000. He said: "Having an eye for detail, good communication skills and team building are all essential skills. This award is recognition of all the hard work and time everyone has put in at Diglis Water.”

Pete Watton, NHBC regional director, added: “The NHBC Pride in the Job Awards are the most sought after accolades in the industry, recognising site managers that build high quality homes. Site managers play a critical role in delivering any project, being responsible for overseeing everything that happens on site from start to finish. Andy is building some of the very best houses in the UK, demonstrating consistently high standards, and is in the top half a percent of his profession. Anyone buying a home built by one of our winners can do so with confidence in its workmanship and quality.”

Pride in the Job is the only UK-wide awards scheme that recognises the significant contribution of Site Managers who achieve the highest standards in new home construction.

The scheme has been instrumental in raising the build quality of new homes in the UK for over three decades.
