MEMBERS of CB Chartered Accountants proved they could add up their recipe figures when they baked home made cakes to win the Great Chamber Bake Off organised by Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce.

Held on Malvern's Three Counties showground, the Bake Off celebrated the local chamber winning the British Chambers of Commerce Chamber of the Year Award. It took place during the recent Business Expo event, when visitors were asked to bring their homemade cakes to be judged and sold to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Judges Mike Ashton, Chamber chief executive, Peter Rowland, Macmillan Cancer Support Ambassador for Herefordshire and the Forest of Dean, Felice Tocchini, local celebrity chef and Tastes of Worcestershire Food Ambassador, and Sam Barriscale, managing director of Ma Bakers, were treated to a range of tasty cakes, with the competition attracting more than 40 entries.

The winners were CB Chartered Accountants of Worcester, with QualitySolicitors Parkinson Wright, also from Worcester, coming second with Herefordshire & Worcestershire Group Training Association in third place.

The event raised £600 for Macmillan and the Chamber hopes to hit its £700 target thanks to donations made at two other coffee mornings, one of which took place in its Herefordshire office the day after the Business Expo. The other Macmillan Coffee Morning will be held at the Chamber's Worcestershire office.

Mr Rowland said: "I am extremely grateful to the Chamber for kicking off our World's Biggest Coffee Morning week. The effort it put in to running the Bake Off is very much appreciated and I would like to take the opportunity to say 'thank you' to all of the Chamber team on behalf of Macmillan Cancer Support."

Mr Ashton added: "The Great Chamber Bake Off was great fun. The cakes were delicious and a lot of money was raised for a worthy cause. It was the perfect way to celebrate our status as Chamber of the Year."
