THE days of miniskirts, monochrome and Lambretta scooters return to Worcester when a ladies store stages a 1960s fashion show.

Titled "Going back to the 60s – where monochrome began", it will be at fashion storeTaking Shape in The Shambles on Saturday, September 27. The aim is to showcase the store’s latest monochrome clothes designs and all members of staff will be dressed up for the day.

Store manager Blair Stone said: "The average dress size for a woman in the UK is 16 and here at Taking Shape we celebrate that. What makes us different from the average fashion retailer is that our clothes sizes are from 14 to 26. We understand that women have different body shapes so design our clothes accordingly. All our staff are qualified stylists and offer free one to one styling sessions on how to dress a body shape in the latest trends. As part of our anniversary celebrations in Worcester we’d like to encourage residents and visitors – size irrelevant – to our 1960s event. Everyone is welcome.

"The day will include a fashion show featuring curvy ladies and a fleet of 1960s Lambretta and Vespa scooters parked up outside the store - courtesy of The Worcester Three Pears. Customers can have their photos taken on the scooters and in return make a small donation in aid of Acorns Hospice. Refreshments and special discounts will also be part of the day."

Taking Shape was originally launched in Australia in 1981 and now has 137 stores throughout Australia and New Zealand. The company opened its first UK store last year in Horsham, West Sussex and such was its success that there are now 20 stores nationwide. The Worcester store opened on August 31, 2013
