A WASTE water company from Worcester has been awarded one of the industry's top health and safety accreditations.

OnSite Central Ltd, based in Blackpole, has received the Safecontractor standard for its commitment to achieving excellence in health and safety. Safecontractor is an accreditation scheme which recognises very high standards in health and safety management among UK contractors.

Dr Steve Ovington, OnSite’s head of business development, said; “Working safely is something which must underpin everything that we do and our customers expect nothing less. The Safecontractor accreditation is a visible indication that OnSite actively supports industry schemes that promote best practice and is fully committed to complying with all industry standards”.

OnSite Central Ltd, part of South Staffordshire Plc, was established in 1977 and has vast experience in surveying, managing and maintaining the waste water industry's assets. The company provides network asset management and maintenance for waste water systems, including foul, surface, process and raw water.

John Kinge, technical director of Safecontractor, added: "Major organisations simply cannot afford to run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove that they have sound health and safety policies in place. More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management in the way that OnSite Central Ltd has done. The firm’s high standard has set an example which hopefully will be followed by other companies within the sector."
