FOUR "muddy marvels" from a Stourport-on-Severn opticians took part in the Race for Life event at Cofton Park in Birmingham.

The team from Specsavers in High Street - comprising Sadie Bannister, Becky Fielding, Vicky Fellows and Alex Kuligowski – battled obstacles along the five kilometre mud run in aid of Cancer Research UK.

"The whole team had been training regularly before the event to make sure we were able to give it our best and raise as much money as we could," said Miss Bannister, optical assistant. "Most people know somebody who has been affected by cancer, and it is only by raising money through events such as Race for Life that we can help fund research to find a cure."

So far, the team has raised £115 for Cancer Research UK. Tim Reeves, store director at Specsavers, said: "I’m really proud of our team members who took part in the event. They showed real commitment leading up to the race and have raised lots of money for Cancer Research."
