100 Years Ago October 26, 1907 A CHURCH Army Mission has been held in Condicote during the past three weeks. The services were held in the schoolroom. The van came on September 27 in charge of Capt Welch and Bro Mitchell. On October 10, they were joined by Bro Pritchard, of the Bristol Mission. On Sunday, October 6, a special service for men was held and a united children's service. On alternate nights, lantern services were held: Six addresses on the work of our Lord, a lecture on church army work, the evils of gambling, or a Warwickshire boy's adventure, and the torn bible. On the other evening a mission service was held. On Wednesday, October 9, the missioners were at home' to all who cared to visit the van. The mission closed on Thursday, the van going to Todenham. read more
100 years Ago November 23, 1907 A WELL-organised sale of work was held at the Mann Institute, Moreton, on Wednesday afternoon in aid of the organ fund at the Congregational Chapel. The sale of work was opened by Mrs R W Essex, the wife of the Member for the Division. A large number of people were present throughout the afternoon, and a good brisk business was done by those in charge of the stalls. In the evening a good programme was gone through and we are glad to know a very successful afternoon and evening was attained financially. read more
