Egg plums are getting ripe, and the bulk of the trade is probably over. They are selling very well, anything that is not messy making from 9s to 9s 6d. Victorias are fetching from 14s to 15s. Apples are in fair supply and good demand. Common sorts are selling for half-a-crown, but better varieties, such as Warner's King, fetch more money, say 6s. Runner beans, which are old now, are a bad trade. Cucumbers are in very good demand, making from 5d to 7d per dozen; marrows make from 8d to 1s 2d, according to quality. Cauliflowers are coming in, and fetch from 6d to 10d a dozen. Outdoor tomatoes are also appearing in the markets, the price ranges from 1d to 2d a pound.

The Evesham Hospital Gala could not have had a better "send off" than the revue, "Vale Vanities," performed by local artistes styling themselves the " Eveomites," at the Scala Theatre, Evesham, on Thursday night. The theatre was packed with an audience in carnival mood and their enthusiasm, expressed in a most emphatic manner, was fully justified by the brilliant and varied programme placed before them. "Smart" is the adjective we should choose if asked in one word to describe the quality of the revue. This quality of smartness obtained throughout the show, reflects the greatest credit on the management and the performers. We have never seen an amateur revue better staged, better dressed, or better produced.

After weeks of hard work Fairfield Estate, Evesham, held their own flower and vegetable show at St Richard's Hall and Church on Saturday. The event, which it is hoped will be an annual one,was opened by the Deputy Mayor and chairman of the Housing Committee, Councillor E A Andrews. He spoke of the progress of the social activities of the estate during the past 12 months and warmly praised the Hall and Church Social Committee and others concerned in the organisation of a "wonderful" show. Councillor Andrews was thanked by the committee chairman, Mr S Hatch, and Miss Christine Dodd handed Councillor Andrews a bouquet for Mrs Andrews, who was unable to attend.

The show was visited by hundreds of people during the afternoon. There were 180 entries.
